Education and Outreach

Using various teaching and coaching approaches, our goal is to communicate science and to foster a scientific atmosphere that allows students and early-career scientists to learn by many different ways. We aim to provide relevant background information about scientific facts and theories as well as about experimental methodology and scientific writing, to stimulate students to become aware of the various interactions that occur within agro-ecosystems, and to think critically, be responsible and develop problem-solving skills in an inter-disciplinary setting.

Teaching members of RAER address students from undergraduate and postgraduate courses in ‘Agricultural Science’ at the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Science.

We regularly offer PhD positions in various research areas related to rice agro-ecosystems, aimed at providing young scientists with the necessary training to be innovative and explore new frontiers of science and their applications to tackle current problems.

RAER is strongly committed to favour the transfer of knowledge from fundamental and applied research to agricultural innovation and sustainable development of rice cropping systems as well as communities that depend on rice as a source of nutrition and subsistence. Group members regularly participate in outreach activities that bring our research to the field for to achieve a wider benefit.
